Obi Honors Christian Chukwu as He is Laid to Rest in Enugu

Former Governor of Anambra, Peter Obi, has paid homage to the late football icon, Chairman Christian Chukwu, who was interred today in his native Obe, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Obi, who joined a gathering of mourners to bid adieu to the former Super Eagles captain and coach, extolled Chukwu as “one of Nigeria’s most distinguished sports figures,” emphasizing that his life and career exemplified discipline, resilience, leadership, and humility.
“For many years, both as a player and coach at club, national, and international levels, Chukwu exhibited exceptional sportsmanship and left a legacy that will inspire generations,” Obi remarked.
He lauded Enugu Governor Peter Mbah for his commitment to supporting former Rangers International players and urged both State and Federal governments to extend greater care to retired athletes who dedicated their youth to the nation’s service.
“They must not be forgotten in their time of need,” Obi emphasized.
Obi conveyed his condolences to Chukwu’s family, friends, colleagues, and the Nigerian football community, praying for God to grant his soul eternal rest.
