Kano Police Debunk Report on Alleged Killing of 18 Igbo Travellers

Kano State Police Command has refuted a reports on social media that an 18-seater passenger bus was attacked in the state. The police described the reports as false and misleading and requested the public to disregard the false information.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, clarified that there was no such incident and advised against the posting of unverified reports that would create panic and impact public peace.

“These reports are not founded and intended to create unnecessary tension. We urge the members of the public not to share such falsehoods and instead subject any security-related information to verification via official channels,” Kiyawa stated.

The police guaranteed the people of Kano their commitment to maintaining law and order and securing all citizens irrespective of their ethnic or religious backgrounds. Law enforcement agencies are also investigating the source of the misinformation and have pledged to take appropriate action against persons responsible for propagating false information.

The authorities requested the public to report to the nearest police station or through the designated emergency contact numbers any suspicious individuals or activities engaged in spreading false information.

The Kano State Police Command reiterated its pledge to protecting the lives and properties of citizens and appealed for the cooperation of the public in arresting the trend of spreading panic rumors.
