Leo Stan Ekeh Donates High-Tech Experience Centre to Federal University, Birnin Kebbi

The Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUB) has received a state-of-the-art technology experience centre from Leo Stan Ekeh, Chairman of the Zinox Group and Founder of the Leo Stan Ekeh Foundation (LSEF), as part of efforts to prepare Nigerian graduates for global competitiveness.
The facility, unveiled on Ekeh’s behalf by Nigeria Computer Society President Dr. Muhammad Aliyu, features the latest Zinox computers, renewable power from the iPower solar energy suite, and uninterrupted high-speed Starlink satellite internet — with five years of service already covered by the Foundation.
Ekeh described the project as a strategic investment in equipping students with hands-on digital skills and resources to match international standards, while fostering innovation and economic growth in Nigeria.
“This is our way of ensuring that graduates are not just theoretically sound but also possess the technical expertise to compete globally,” he said.
The FUB tech hub is the latest in a series of digital education interventions by the LSEF. Over the last 25 years, the Foundation and Zinox Group have funded multiple ICT laboratories and innovation hubs in universities nationwide, including recent centres at St. Augustine University, Lagos, and Imo State University.
Plans are also underway to extend such initiatives to secondary schools.
Ekeh encouraged government bodies, wealthy Nigerians, and the private sector to make deliberate investments in education, warning that academic institutions should be held to stricter operational standards than even the banking sector due to their role in shaping the country’s human capital.
Vice Chancellor of FUB, Prof. Muhammad Umar, hailed the donation as a game-changer for the university’s teaching and research capabilities. “This facility will significantly enhance our students’ learning experience and research output,” he said.
Zinox Group’s Head of Corporate Communications, Chimezie Orisakwe, noted that the initiative aligns with Ekeh’s long-standing mission to expand access to digital learning and innovation across Nigeria, complementing past collaborations with institutions such as INEC and the National Population Commission.
The LSEF’s track record also includes scholarships, loans for young entrepreneurs, and support for health, humanitarian, and community development projects nationwide.
