INEC Gombe Pledges Staff Training Drive Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Gombe State has reaffirmed its resolve to strengthen electoral administration through sustained capacity development for its personnel, as part of preparations for the 2027 General Elections.

Speaking at a one-day workshop on Friday, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Gombe State, Dr. Sa’ad Idris, described staff training as a cornerstone for effective election management in today’s fast-changing political and technological environment.

The workshop, themed “Capacity Building: A Tool for Successful Election Administration,” brought together staff of the State Office to exchange knowledge, review operational challenges, and explore innovative strategies for improving service delivery.

“This is not just a bureaucratic requirement it is a deliberate and indispensable investment in the integrity of our electoral process and the vibrancy of our democracy,” Dr. Idris said.

He emphasised the need for INEC personnel to keep pace with new technologies, legal reforms, and the rising expectations of the Nigerian electorate, especially ahead of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

According to him, the Commission is placing strong emphasis on training to enhance efficiency, ensure transparency, and bolster public trust in the electoral process.

“With well-trained personnel, we can deliver elections that truly reflect the will of the people,” he added.

The event forms part of INEC’s broader strategy to modernise election administration and strengthen institutional capacity before Nigerians head to the polls in 2027.
