Oyedepo’s Admonition on Power of Obedience

In the opinion of Bishop David Oyedepo, obedience is the master key that opens the door to a world of abundance.
In the same way that fertilization has to come before pregnancy, obedience has to come before abundance. That is, obedience is necessary before revelation will be enough to result in manifestation.
In the charismatic community, there tends to be a very strong emphasis on revelation, and many delight to receive spiritual insight and understanding. Bishop Oyedepo, however, highlights that revelation is only half of the equation. It is the application of the revelation through obedience that leads to multiplication and manifestation.
The world is not waiting for Christians to simply claim to have received revelation; it is waiting to see the manifestation of that revelation in their lives. It is the demonstration of God’s power and provision that will authenticate the sincerity of a Christian’s faith and demonstrate the reality of their walk with God.
Bishop Oyedepo identifies that the devil is not the primary problem for Christians, rather, disobedience to the Word of God is the primary hindrance for Christians. If Christians simply obeyed the Word of God that gives prosperity, much of the spiritual warfare that is typically associated with seeking prosperity would not be necessary.
Obedience is really the door opener to the abundance that God’s people are promised. By putting obedience first and acting on the revelation they receive, Christians can realize the power and provision of God in their lives, and demonstrate to the world the truth of their faith.
