151 Police Officers Face Disciplinary Panel over Infractions

The Nigeria Police has initiated disciplinary measures against 151 senior officers in response to various allegations pertaining to misconduct and ethical violations, aiming to bolster accountability and uphold professional discipline within its ranks.
Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, announced this development in a statement on Wednesday.
He stated that the review commenced on Monday, July 14, and is scheduled to conclude on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
According to him, officers, selected from commands and units nationwide, are appearing before the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) to address alleged infractions ranging from professional misconduct to violations of internal regulations.
The Force spokesperson emphasized that the disciplinary committee functions as the police’s internal body, tasked with investigating cases involving senior officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and above.
He highlighted that the committee plays a crucial role in evaluating accusations, scrutinizing evidence, and recommending suitable sanctions in accordance with existing police laws and disciplinary frameworks.
“The Force Disciplinary Committee is a fundamental internal structure responsible for reviewing and adjudicating cases of alleged breaches of professional conduct, misconduct, and ethical violations involving senior officers of the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above,” the statement conveyed.
Adejobi further reaffirmed the dedication of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to maintaining discipline and ethical standards within the Force, underscoring that the Force would not tolerate any form of indiscipline or misconduct under his leadership.
