Buhari’s Domestic Staff Offer Prayer for His Repose

Domestic staff of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari offered prayers at his Daura residence on Wednesday, a day after his burial. Buhari was laid to rest on Tuesday in Daura, Katsina State, according to Islamic rites, marking the end of a solemn national farewell.

His remains were interred at 5:50 pm following a funeral prayer led by the Imam of the Central Mosque in Daura, Sheik Salisu Rabiu.

In a final display of military honor, Army Generals and Service Chiefs carried the coffin to the graveside, where a 21-gun salute reverberated across Daura. Buhari’s burial ceremony drew dignitaries and well-wishers from across the country, reflecting his enduring impact on Nigerian politics.

Buhari’s presidency, spanning 2015 to 2023, was marked by significant reforms and initiatives. Notably, his administration oversaw major infrastructure development projects, including the Kano-Maradi rail line and the upgrade of Daura Mini Stadium. Additionally, his government established the Transport University and Federal Polytechnic in Daura, providing opportunities for local students.

In the healthcare sector, his administration constructed the Women and Children Hospital in Daura.

After leaving office in May 2023, Buhari spent nearly two years in Daura before relocating to his residence in Kaduna. His move was accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.

During this period, Buhari had chosen a quiet life in his hometown, staying out of active political discussions and focusing on private engagements.
