Royal Ascension: Hon. Bamidele Atoyebi Celebrates Newly Coronated Oba Onikoyi of Ikoyi, Imoba of Lagos
In a gesture of deep reverence and cultural affinity, Hon. Bamidele Atoyebi has extended his heartfelt felicitations to His Royal Majesty, Oba Ibikunle Fafunwa-Onikoyi, on his installation as the Onikoyi of Ikoyi and Imoba of Lagos.
Though unavoidably absent at the coronation due to overbearing pressing schedules, Hon. Atoyebi joined countless well-wishers from across the globe in celebrating what he described as “a historic and spiritually significant moment for the people of Ikoyi and Lagos State.”
In a video chat with Unfiltered Reporting correspondent, Hon. Atoyebi further emphasized the significance of the Onikoyi stool as a symbol of uncommon heritage and existential harmony:
“I heartily congratulate His Royal Majesty, Oba Ibikunle Fafunwa-Onikoyi, on his ascension to the revered throne of his forebears. This is not just a new beginning for the palace, but a renewal of tradition, identity, and community pride,” he said.
Hon. Atoyebi commended the royal institution for upholding the dignity and cultural values of the Yoruba people, adding that Oba Fafunwa-Onikoyi’s reign holds the golden promise of unity, development, and generational impact.
“As a custodian of our heritage, the Onikoyi stool represents a sacred trust. I pray that Kabiyesi’s reign will be marked by wisdom, peace, and prosperity for all sons and daughters of Ikoyi and Imoba land,” he added.
The newly crowned monarch, Oba Fafunwa-Onikoyi, was installed earlier today in a ceremony rich with cultural symbolism and traditional rites. As part of the age-old rites of ascension, the symbolic scepter of power was ceremoniously passed through the revered royal authorities in attendance among whom were Oba Oniru and Oba Olumegbon, alongside other traditional rulers who lent their authority to the transition.
Concluding his message, Hon. Atoyebi also extended his well-wishes to the new monarch on behalf of himself and the entire BAT ideological group, praying for a peaceful and prosperous reign.
“We send our warmest greetings to His Royal Majesty on this remarkable occasion. May your journey on the throne of your forefathers be long, prosperous, and turbulent-free. Kade o pẹ lori, ki bata o pẹ lẹsẹ, ki asẹ o pẹ lẹnu, kanrinkese,” he cincluded.
