APC Begins Sales of Nomination Forms for National Assembly Bye-Elections
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms for aspirants vying for various National Assembly seats in the forthcoming bye-elections. The elections, scheduled for August 16, will take place in 12 states to fill vacant legislative seats resulting from the deaths or resignations of lawmakers who have transitioned to executive positions.
Two prominent aspirants, Oscar Aghedo and Yakubu Waziri, have picked up their forms at the APC national secretariat in Abuja. Aghedo, who is contesting for the Edo House of Representatives seat for Ovia South-West/North-East Federal Constituency, emphasized the need for adequate representation, particularly in infrastructure development.
He also pledged to prioritize human capacity development, youth empowerment, and support for the less privileged.
Waziri, an aspirant for the Kaduna State House of Representatives seat for Chikun/Kajuru Constituency, highlighted the importance of security and youth empowerment.
He credited President Bola Tinubu and the Kaduna State governor’s intervention for bringing relative peace to the area.
The APC National Working Committee has been urged to ensure credible and transparent primaries, slated for July 19. Aspirants have expressed confidence in their chances, citing divine favor, support from their constituents, and backing from their governors.
The bye-elections will determine the next set of lawmakers to represent their constituencies in the National Assembly.
With the APC’s nomination process underway, aspirants are gearing up for a fierce contest to secure their party’s ticket.
