If You Like, Appoint Your Son as INEC Chairman, You’ll Lose in 2027, Dalung Tells Tinubu
A former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has issued a scathing warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that no amount of manipulation or control over electoral processes will save him from defeat in the 2027 general election if the current hardship in the country persists.
Dalung made this remark during a recent interview, where he criticised the worsening economic situation in Nigeria and the federal government’s inability to meet the expectations of the people. He argued that the citizens are growing increasingly disillusioned with the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government.
According to Dalung, Nigerians are already fed up with the state of the economy, high cost of living, and poor governance. He stressed that unless President Tinubu addresses these fundamental issues, no amount of political scheming will secure him a second term.
“Even if you appoint your son as the INEC Chairman, you will still lose in 2027,” Dalung said, adding that power truly belongs to the people and not those occupying privileged offices.
He further warned the ruling APC not to take the patience of Nigerians for granted, urging the government to focus on implementing policies that bring real relief to the suffering masses.
Dalung, who was a prominent figure in the first term of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, has become an increasingly vocal critic of the current government.
His latest remarks come amid mounting pressure on President Tinubu to address inflation, rising fuel prices, insecurity, and unemployment.
As the 2027 election draws nearer, political discourse has begun to heat up, with opposition voices warning against any attempts to compromise the credibility of the electoral process.
