Korean Cultural Center Explores Fusion of Afrobeat with Korean Music

The Korean Cultural Centre in Nigeria is exploring opportunities to merge Nigeria’s Afrobeat with traditional Korean music, leveraging the global popularity of K-pop to foster cross-cultural exchange.

The centre’s director, Jeon Ju Ho, believes that combining Afrobeat rhythms with Korean melodies could produce remarkable musical results and strengthen ties between the two nations.

During an exhibition in Abuja, Ju Ho highlighted the depth of traditional Korean music embedded in K-pop and expressed hope for future collaborations between Korean and Nigerian artists.

He noted that many Nigerians are familiar with K-pop but unaware of the traditional Korean sounds that influence it.

The exhibition aims to introduce Nigerian audiences to the roots of K-pop and spark interest in cultural exchange between the two countries. With Afrobeat gaining international recognition, a potential collaboration between the two genres could open up new musical possibilities and promote cultural understanding.
