Lagos Deputy Governor Carpets Obi, Says He Built no School in 8 Years as Governor

Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, on Saturday, delivered a critique of former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, asserting that a particular presidential hopeful, who also previously served as governor, failed to establish a single educational institution during his eight-year tenure.
Hamzat articulated this observation at the APC Lagos East Mega Rally, themed “One Voice, One Vision, One Victory,” held in Ikorodu, while advocating for the APC in anticipation of the forthcoming local government elections in Lagos.
Highlighting the accomplishments of local government chairmen within the state, Hamzat remarked that he had lost track of the numerous schools and projects he had inaugurated in the region.
He urged party members to vocally champion these achievements as they solicited votes for the July 12 local government election.
Emphasizing the necessity of party unity, he implored members to dismiss disparaging remarks about the nation, asserting that Nigeria is progressing.
The deputy governor conveyed his assurance in the party’s capability to triumph in the elections, underscoring the commendable efforts of the state government, National Assembly, and other elected officials.
He proclaimed, “A presidential candidate in the 2023 election, who also served as a former governor, could not construct a single school during his eight years in office, yet observe the accomplishments of our local government representatives. I have inaugurated numerous schools. We are incomparable to such individuals.
“Do not heed those who disparage the country, claiming deterioration; Nigeria is advancing. Reject any form of negativity.
“No other state in Africa possesses a rail system except Lagos.
“We possess a record of commendable deeds in the state; hence, we have substantial offerings to present to the populace.”
