FCTA Compensated All Property Owners Affected by Arterial Road Project, Clarifies Wike
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has stated that all property owners affected by the ongoing Arterial Road N20 project in Abuja have been fully compensated by the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
Wike disclosed this during an inspection tour of the road project, stressing that the administration ensured no demolition was carried out without following due process and fulfilling compensation obligations. He said the exercise was conducted with transparency and fairness, in line with the administration’s commitment to uphold the rights of citizens.
“We took our time to identify all the affected persons and made sure they were duly compensated before any work commenced.
That is why you are not hearing of any complaints or protests. We have done everything according to law,” Wike said.
The Arterial Road N20, which connects several key districts within the FCT, is designed to improve traffic flow and promote urban connectivity. It is a key component of President Bola Tinubu’s infrastructure agenda for the capital city.
Wike dismissed claims of neglect or forced evictions, explaining that a detailed enumeration was conducted to ensure every impacted individual or entity received what was due to them. He warned against spreading misinformation about the project and reiterated that any valid concerns would be addressed through appropriate channels.
The minister also praised the contractors handling the road construction for their efforts and urged them to sustain the pace of work and meet the completion timeline.
“This road is very critical to the connectivity and functionality of the city. We are not just constructing roads; we are laying the foundation for future development and economic expansion,” he added.
Some residents and property owners affected by the project have confirmed receiving compensation and expressed appreciation for the FCTA’s approach. The smooth progress of the project has been attributed to the administration’s commitment to due process and fairness.
