Argentine Man Sets Guinness World Record After Visiting 152 Pubs in 24 Hours

In a feat of extraordinary endurance and planning, Martin Perez of Buenos Aires has officially set a new Guinness World Record for the most pubs visited by an individual in a 24-hour period. Perez managed to visit a staggering 152 pubs in a single day, smashing previous records and drawing international attention.

The record-breaking attempt, which took place on March 15, 2025, was recently verified and certified by Guinness World Records, solidifying Perez’s place in history.

The Guinness listing recognizes him as the current titleholder for “Most Pubs Visited in 24 Hours (Individual).”

Perez undertook the challenge as a personal tribute to his hometown, seeking to showcase the cultural and social vibrancy of Buenos Aires. Speaking after the announcement, he described the experience as “a celebration of the city’s pub culture” and an effort to bring global recognition to its hospitality industry.

“I wanted the world to see what Buenos Aires offers — its charm, its energy, and the people who bring it to life every day through food, drink, and conversation,” Perez said.

To meet Guinness World Records’ stringent criteria, Perez had to provide proof of purchase at each pub visited, with witnesses and timestamped documentation to confirm each stop. He reportedly consumed only small sips of drink at each venue to maintain both compliance and stamina.

This achievement eclipses the previous record held by Australian pub enthusiast David Clarkson, who visited 120 pubs in Sydney in April 2024. Before that, the title was held by Gareth Murphy from Wales with 56 pubs, and earlier still by England’s Matt Ellis with 51.

Perez’s total of 152 pubs more than doubles Murphy’s figure and sets a new, ambitious standard for pub crawl enthusiasts worldwide.

The event has sparked interest not just in record-breaking circles, but also within tourism and hospitality sectors in Argentina, many of which have praised the record as a positive spotlight on the country’s nightlife and urban culture.

Guinness officials lauded the record attempt as a “meticulously planned and safely executed challenge,” emphasizing the dedication and logistical precision involved in visiting so many venues in such a short span of time.

As Martin Perez basks in the glow of international recognition, his accomplishment is being celebrated by locals as a uniquely Argentine triumph — and one that may not be easily matched for years to come.
