Collective Ego of Members, Not Atiku’s Alone Cause of PDP Crisis, Asserts Dauda Lawal

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has asserted that the turmoil engulfing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is driven by the collective egos of its members, emphasizing that Atiku is not the sole cause of the party’s predicament.
During a media interaction with journalists on Wednesday in Zamfara, Lawal remarked that the PDP’s crisis extends beyond Atiku, the party’s presidential candidate in 2023.
“Everyone has their own concerns; it’s not merely about Atiku Abubakar; it transcends him.
“It is an internal issue within the PDP, and we are actively addressing it. I believe it revolves around personal egos—everyone is involved, without exception,” he stated.
Numerous PDP members have accused President Bola Tinubu of orchestrating their party’s crisis.
Nevertheless, Governor Lawal, who refrained from absolving himself, maintains that all PDP members bear responsibility for the crisis.
When questioned if he is among those contributing to the ego-driven discord within the party, he affirmed, “Yes.”
Addressing the electoral process in Nigeria, the governor expressed optimism that free and fair elections remain achievable despite systemic hurdles, citing his own experience as evidence of electoral integrity.
“I would say yes, as I witnessed it in Zamfara State—with all the influential individuals capable of altering outcomes, with the full force of the Federal Government and all its resources.
“Yes, there will still be free and fair elections. This is what led to my election as the governor of Zamfara State. I was the first elected PDP governor in Zamfara State. It was a fair and impartial election, and I am confident it will occur. It’s only a matter of time,” he declared.
