CDS Reads the Riot Act, Orders Commanders to Go After Attackers
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has ordered military commanders to go after terrorists and armed groups behind recent attacks across the country.
In a decisive directive issued during a high-level security meeting in Abuja, General Musa charged top officers to intensify operations and ensure that perpetrators are tracked down, neutralized, and prevented from regrouping.
“We will no longer allow criminal elements to take the lives of innocent Nigerians and threaten the unity of this country,” the CDS said. “Our troops must go after them with precision and determination.”
The order comes in the wake of renewed attacks in several parts of the country, including recent killings in Plateau, Benue, and Zamfara States, which have drawn widespread condemnation.
General Musa emphasized the importance of collaboration among security agencies and reaffirmed the military’s readiness to deploy all necessary resources to protect citizens and restore peace.
He also urged commanders to prioritize intelligence gathering and community engagement as part of efforts to curb insurgency, banditry, and inter-communal violence.
Security analysts have welcomed the directive, describing it as a bold step toward proactive military engagement amid rising insecurity.
