2Face Demands Urgent Action Over Fresh Killings in Benue, Fumes, ‘Enough Is Enough’

Nigerian music legend, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the nation’s security agencies to urgently address the ongoing violence in Benue State following a recent deadly attack that left scores dead.

The artist, who hails from Benue, expressed outrage over the killing of civilians in Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area, where armed assailants stormed the community and massacred residents in their sleep.

Eyewitness accounts and local officials confirm that over 100 people were killed in the incident, with many others injured or declared missing.

2Baba, in a message posted on social media, said the continuous attacks on innocent communities must stop.

“Enough is enough,” he said. “This madness must end. I call on President Tinubu, the Inspector-General of Police, and all responsible authorities to take swift and firm action. My heart breaks for my people.”

The attack in Yelewata is the latest in a series of violent assaults on farming communities in Benue State, often attributed to armed herders.

Residents say the attackers also burned homes and destroyed farmlands, leaving survivors without shelter or food.

President Tinubu has condemned the killings and instructed security forces to bring the perpetrators to justice.

He is expected to visit the affected area in the coming days. The Benue State government, led by Governor Hyacinth Alia, has deployed relief materials and security reinforcements to the region.

Amnesty International Nigeria also issued a statement describing the attack as a gross failure of security and a violation of citizens’ rights to life and safety.

The organization called for a thorough investigation and accountability.

Benue State has witnessed years of repeated violence, with thousands killed and entire communities displaced due to long-standing conflicts between farmers and herders.

Local leaders and civil society groups have urged the federal government to implement lasting security solutions to protect lives and livelihoods.

2Baba’s statement has added to growing public calls for urgent and sustained action to prevent further bloodshed in the state.
