Sinner Holds No. 1, Alcaraz Gains No Ground Despite Paris Win, Djokovic Climbs in ATP Rankings

Following a dramatic conclusion to the French Open, the latest ATP rankings reveal minimal movement at the top, though there are subtle shifts that signal what could become a summer of fierce competition on the men’s tour.

Italian star Jannik Sinner remains firmly entrenched as World No. 1, holding onto his lead with 10,880 points. His position at the top is bolstered by consistent deep runs at recent tournaments, including his semifinal showing at Roland Garros. Sinner’s grip on the No. 1 spot now enters its 52nd week, reflecting an extraordinary period of dominance in the men’s game.

Despite clinching his third Grand Slam title at the French Open, Carlos Alcaraz of Spain remains at World No. 2 with 8,850 points.

Because he was defending his championship from 2024, the victory in Paris did not earn him any additional ranking points. Nevertheless, the 21-year-old’s hard-fought five-set triumph in the final over Germany’s Alexander Zverev reaffirmed his position as one of the sport’s most formidable competitors.

Meanwhile, 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic has climbed one spot to World No. 5, thanks to his run to the semifinals in Paris. At 38, the Serbian legend continues to defy age, maintaining elite-level performances and remaining in contention during the biggest events of the season.

The updated Top 10 reflects both stability and some new faces in ascension. Notably, Jack Draper of Great Britain moves up to No. 4, marking the highest ranking of his career, while Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti jumps to No. 6. American players Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul also feature prominently, though Fritz dropped three places after a disappointing early exit from Roland Garros.

The rankings reflect a clear separation between the top two—Sinner and Alcaraz—and the rest of the field. Zverev, despite falling in the final at Roland Garros, remains a strong No. 3 with over 6,000 points, though still significantly behind the top two contenders.

Looking ahead, the next few months will be crucial as the tour transitions to grass-court season, culminating in Wimbledon. Alcaraz will be defending his 2024 Wimbledon title, giving Sinner a window of opportunity to widen his lead if the Spaniard falters. Djokovic, a seven-time champion at SW19, could also gain ground with a strong performance in London.

While Sinner remains the man to beat, and Alcaraz continues to impress, the rankings reflect a tightly contested field where momentum can shift quickly. One thing is certain: the race for year-end No. 1 is far from settled.
