The Federal High Court of Nigeria has officially announced that it will commence its annual vacation on Monday, July 28, 2025, with court activities scheduled to resume on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

This development was made known in a public statement issued by the court’s Director of Information, Mrs. Catherine Oby Christopher, in accordance with Order 46, Rule 4(d) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019.

In line with standard judicial practice, only select court divisions will remain operational during the vacation period to attend to matters deemed extremely urgent.

These divisions include:
• Abuja Division
• Lagos Division
• Port Harcourt Division

The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, has designated specific judges to handle these divisions during the break.

The following judges will handle urgent cases during the vacation:
• Abuja Division: Justice Emeka Nwite and Justice M. S. Liman
• Lagos Division: Justice Deinde I. Dipeolu and Justice Musa Kakaki
• Port Harcourt Division: Justice P. M. Ayua and Justice A. T. Mohammed

Litigants and legal practitioners are advised to approach these divisions if they have urgent matters requiring judicial attention during the vacation period.

Chief Judge Tsoho extended his best wishes to all judges and court personnel, expressing hope that the vacation will offer them a well-deserved period of rest and rejuvenation after months of intensive judicial work.

The Federal High Court’s annual vacation is a long-standing tradition aimed at ensuring judicial officers receive adequate rest while still maintaining a skeletal structure to handle critical and time-sensitive cases.
