Zamfara State Government Denies Trial of Woman who Changed Faith to Christianity in Sharia Court

The Zamfara State Government has discredited as fabricated, a story circulating on social media platforms, which falsely claimed that a 22-year-old Christian convert, Zainab Muhamadu, was to face trial in a Sharia Court.

According to Sulaiman Bala Idris, spokesperson for the Zamfara Governor, “this report is entirely baseless and lacks any credible evidence.”

A thorough investigation has been conducted, and it has been confirmed that no such case exists within the Zamfara State Sharia Court system. The Grand Khadi of the Zamfara Sharia Court of Appeal has also denied the existence of any similar cases, further solidifying the government’s stance that the story is a malicious fabrication.

The origins of this false narrative have been traced to an online platform notorious for spreading unverified stories, with the aim of generating traffic and creating tension.

The use of a misleading image has also been exposed, with the woman in the picture being identified as Aalia, a resident of Texas, United States, and not a Nigerian citizen as claimed.

The Zamfara State Government has condemned this act of “yellow journalism” and has called upon relevant security agencies to investigate the source of this false story and take necessary action against those responsible.

The government emphasizes the importance of verified information and the need to denounce such divisive and perilous narratives that seek to disrupt peace and create religious tension.
