The All Progressives Congress in Jigawa State has inaugurated its 2027 presidential and governorship campaign council to drive victory for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Umar Namadi.
The development comes amid early political alignments, intensified mobilisation and renewed party unity across the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The council is expected to coordinate mobilisation and campaign activities for the party candidates at all levels.
The council was inaugurated on Saturday at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Dutse, the state capital, with Namadi as the council Chairman and Lawan Roni as the Director General.
Today we have inaugurated the APC Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council, which will lead us to victory in the 2027 elections, the governor said. The inauguration brought together party leaders and political stakeholders under a unified campaign structure.
Speaking during the event, Namadi said the integration of the presidential and governorship campaign structures was to strengthen coordination. He said the merger was designed to provide a united platform for the party ahead of the elections, and to ensure that campaigns for the president, governor and other APC candidates move together. He expressed confidence that Jigawa will deliver two million votes for Tinubu in 2027.
The governor said that his Deputy, Aminu Usman, former governors Ali Saadu and Senator Saminu Turaki, as well as the state APC Chairman, Ahmad MK, will serve as Deputy Chairmen of the council. The council also has six vice chairmen, with two representatives from each of the state three senatorial districts to ensure broad representation and effective coordination.
Senator Muhammad Ibrahim and Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia were appointed vice chairmen for North East I and II, respectively.
Namadi challenged appointed and elected political office holders to go back to their respective communities to mobilise the electorate to vote massively for the ruling All Progressives Congress, from the presidency down to the state assembly. He said the party had no reason to fail, given the level of achievements it had recorded in all spheres of human endeavour, including infrastructure development, health, education and human empowerment.
He called on party leaders and supporters to work together towards the re election of President Tinubu and his return as governor.
The Director General of the campaign council, Lawan Yau Roni, appreciated the party for the appointment and assured that the council would mobilise support across all 287 wards in the state to secure victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections. He played a similar role in the 2023 general elections, which ushered Namadi into office.
The Jigawa State APC Chairman, Ahmad Muhammad Garba, also expressed confidence in the ability of the campaign council to deliver victory for the party.
The Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Haruna Dangyatin, who also coordinates the City Boy Movement in Jigawa, said the group would intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections. He said members of the movement would embark on house to house campaigns to publicise the activities of Tinubu and Governor Umar Namadi.
We will take the City Boy Movement across Jigawa, going from house to house to tell the people what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our governor are doing, he said.
