Oshiomhole Mocks Obi Over Exhaustion At Ekiti APC Rally

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has mocked the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, over reports that he is recovering from exhaustion. Oshiomhole made the remark during the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign rally in Ekiti State.

Oshiomhole told the crowd that he did not want to talk about Obi because he heard he was recovering from exhaustion. He said Obi has not yet resumed office, and he is already tired. He added that Obi should be allowed to rest.

The remark was captured in a video from the rally shared on X by Nigerian Affairs Journal. The rally was part of the APC presidential campaign activities in Ekiti State ahead of the 2027 general elections, with party leaders urging supporters to back President Bola Tinubu for reelection.

Oshiomhole comment came days after the NDC campaign council addressed concerns about Obi health. The Deputy Spokesperson of the NDC Presidential Campaign Council, Sam Omale, had said Obi was in perfect health but was suffering from exhaustion due to a demanding campaign schedule.

Omale said Obi had been travelling frequently between cities and countries, sometimes moving from London one night to Enugu the following morning. He said the schedule had left Obi physically exhausted, but insisted that there was no underlying medical problem and that the exhaustion would not affect the campaign.

The NDC had also dismissed reports that Obi was hospitalised after a gym injury, describing the claims as false. Obi spokesman, Idris Zekeri, said he was with Obi before he travelled abroad, and maintained that Obi remained physically and mentally fit.

The exchange has added to the political war of words between the APC and the NDC as campaigns intensify. While APC leaders have used the exhaustion reports to question Obi fitness for office, NDC officials say the issue is being exaggerated by opponents to discredit a candidate they describe as energetic and committed.
