Kwankwaso Berates Tinubu Administration Over Rising Insecurity, Poverty

Former Kano State Governor and National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has faulted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration over its handling of insecurity and poverty in the country.

Kwankwaso, who spoke during an engagement with stakeholders, said the present administration has failed to protect lives and property and to address the worsening economic hardship confronting millions of Nigerians.

According to the former governor, the level of insecurity across various parts of the country remains alarming, with banditry, kidnapping and other forms of criminality threatening livelihoods and discouraging investment.

He noted that the situation has been compounded by rising poverty, occasioned by inflation, high cost of living and the removal of fuel subsidy without adequate cushioning measures for the vulnerable population.

The NNPP leader stressed that governance is about improving the welfare of the people, adding that any policy that imposes further hardship without a clear plan for relief cannot be said to be in the interest of the citizens.

Kwankwaso called on the Federal Government to urgently review its economic and security strategies, invest more in job creation, strengthen security agencies and adopt people centred policies that will reduce poverty and restore confidence among Nigerians.

He maintained that Nigeria has the resources and manpower to overcome its challenges if leadership prioritises accountability, compassion and inclusive governance.

The statement has since generated reactions among political observers, with many calling for more constructive engagement between the government and opposition leaders in addressing the nations pressing challenges.
