Ex-DSS Officer Apologises Over Leaked Internal Matter, Threatens Legal Action Against SaharaReporters
DA retired Department of State Services officer, Nwaogu Ihechimere Ezeakolam, has apologised to the agency’s Director-General, Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi, over the publication of an internal matter.
He also demanded a retraction of a SaharaReporters report he described as inaccurate.
In a letter dated September 22, 2026, Ezeakolam admitted that taking the internal issue to the media was an error of judgment. He apologised for any embarrassment caused and appealed to the DSS leadership to resolve the matter internally.
The retired officer reaffirmed his loyalty to the Federal Government. He insisted that he had neither participated in nor intended to engage in any activities that could harm Nigeria’s security.
Separately, through his lawyer, Edmund C. Ben of Lawminds Associates, Ezeakolam demanded the retraction of a SaharaReporters publication dated June 29, 2026. The report allegedly contained misleading claims concerning the DSS Director-General and the Association of Retired DSS Officers of Nigeria.
The lawyers requested that the platform publish their client’s response and correct or retract any claims not supported by evidence. They gave SaharaReporters seven days to respond, warning that failure to comply could lead to further legal action.
