Attackers Exploiting Plateau Curfew to Target Communities, Alleges NBA

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has alleged that armed attackers are taking advantage of curfew restrictions in parts of Plateau State to launch assaults on vulnerable communities.

The association expressed concern over the continued violence in affected areas, claiming that residents have remained exposed to attacks despite the imposition of security measures aimed at restoring peace.

According to the NBA, reports from several communities suggest that attackers often strike during periods when movement restrictions are in force, making it difficult for residents to respond or seek immediate assistance.

The association called on security agencies to review existing strategies and strengthen protection for communities facing recurring attacks.

It also urged authorities to ensure that curfew measures do not unintentionally place law-abiding residents at greater risk while criminal elements continue to operate.

The NBA stressed the need for improved intelligence gathering, rapid response mechanisms and increased security presence in vulnerable locations across the state.

The group further appealed to the federal and state governments to intensify efforts toward ending the cycle of violence and providing lasting security for affected communities.

The remarks come amid ongoing concerns over attacks, killings and displacement of residents in several parts of Plateau State, where security agencies continue operations aimed at restoring peace and preventing further violence.
