Ogun Approves Major Infrastructure, Healthcare, Enterprise Projects

The Ogun State Executive Council has approved a new package of infrastructure and economic development projects.

The decisions cover road reconstruction, construction of two general hospitals, a power-generation investment and the creation of an agency to support small businesses.

Among the approved road works are the reconstruction of the 4.87-kilometre Siun Junction–Iperu Junction Road and the 4.87-kilometre Simawa–Lukosi/Ogijo Road. The council also approved variations for the ongoing reconstruction of the Sango–Ota–Ijoko–Agbado–Oke-Aro–Akute Road and the Abeokuta–Abule Egba Road.

In the health sector, the government approved the construction of new general hospitals at Itori in Ewekoro Local Government Area and Aiyepe in Odogbolu Local Government Area.

The projects are expected to expand healthcare infrastructure and bring medical services closer to residents.

To support business growth, the council approved the establishment of the Ogun State Enterprise Development Agency. The agency will coordinate support for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, promote entrepreneurship and help small businesses expand and create jobs.

The council also approved the state’s participation in power generation through Gateway Power Limited. The move is aimed at providing more reliable electricity for Ogun’s growing industrial and commercial base. In addition, Otunba Osunsina Olumide John was appointed as the new Olu of Ifo.
