NELFUND Has Reduced Financial Pressure on Students, Says Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has said the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) is helping to ease the financial challenges faced by students from low-income families across the country.

Shettima stated that the student loan programme was introduced to ensure that financial constraints do not prevent qualified Nigerians from accessing higher education.

According to him, the initiative has provided relief to thousands of students by helping them meet tuition and other educational expenses, thereby reducing the burden on parents and guardians.

The Vice President noted that the programme reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding access to education and promoting equal opportunities for young Nigerians.

He added that investments in education remain critical to national development, stressing that empowering students today would contribute to building a more productive workforce in the future.

Shettima also encouraged eligible students to take advantage of the scheme, describing it as a strategic intervention aimed at improving educational outcomes and supporting human capital development.

The Vice President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the programme and ensuring that more students benefit from financial support needed to pursue their academic goals.
