Troops Foil Cattle Rustling, Recover Over 500 Cattle in Kaduna
Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled a cattle rustling operation and recovered more than 500 cattle in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The operation was conducted on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, following a distress call from residents over the rustling of cattle at Rugar Mande Kurmin in the area.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the troops swiftly mobilised to suspected withdrawal routes used by the terrorists and established blocking positions.
The troops subsequently engaged the terrorists from multiple positions, forcing them to retreat in disarray and abandon the rustled cattle.
All the recovered cattle were subsequently handed over to their respective owners.
The task force said the operation underscored the commitment of troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protecting lives and property while disrupting criminal activities and restricting the freedom of action of terrorists across the Joint Operations Area.
The operation also urged members of the public to continue providing security agencies with relevant information to support ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist elements within the Joint Operations Area.
