Troops Neutralise Suspected Terrorist, Recover Phones, Cash in Zamfara
Troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have neutralised a suspected terrorist during a counter-terrorism operation in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The incident occurred as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal activities in the North-West.
Military sources said the troops, who were deployed in the Galadi area of Sokoto State, sighted suspected terrorists riding motorcycles while trying to cross a road in Shinkafi.
The soldiers engaged the group, resulting in the neutralisation of one suspect while others fled the scene.
An inspection of the deceased suspect revealed that he was wearing a woodland camouflage vest under his traditional attire. Further checks on his mobile phone reportedly showed photographs of the individual in camouflage clothing.
The troops recovered four mobile phones and ₦30,350 in cash from the suspect. The items were taken into custody as part of the follow-up process after the encounter.
The operation forms part of continued security efforts aimed at tackling terrorism and banditry across the region. Security forces remain active in the area as they work to maintain pressure on armed groups operating in Zamfara and surrounding states.
