Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled an attempted attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters on Pulka, a border community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The attack occurred when heavily armed terrorists launched an assault on military positions in the town, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire with security forces.

Military sources said troops responded swiftly to the attack, engaging the insurgents with superior firepower and forcing them to retreat after suffering significant casualties.

Air support was also deployed during the operation, helping to target fleeing terrorists and prevent them from advancing into the community.

Several insurgents were reportedly neutralised, while others escaped with varying degrees of injuries.

Security forces recovered weapons, ammunition and other items abandoned by the attackers during the failed assault.

Residents of Pulka were advised to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely information on suspicious movements and activities.

The latest operation forms part of ongoing military efforts to deny terrorist groups freedom of movement and sustain pressure on insurgent networks operating across the North-East.
