Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje, national coordinator of the Disciples of Jagaban and a long-time Tinubu support-group organiser, has said Nigerians should put the country first in 2027 and give serious thought to a second term for President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking from Kaduna, he said Nigeria is bigger than any politician, party, region or faith, and bigger than anyone’s personal ambition. The 2027 vote, he argued, should not be treated as a war. If citizens believe the administration still has reforms to finish, they should consider letting Tinubu continue.

He added that this was not a call for blind loyalty. The caveat does not hide the ask. Alawuje’s job is to keep the president’s grassroots network warm. “Put Nigeria first” in that mouth is also “do not punish the incumbent for the pain of the reforms.”

Opposition figures are making the opposite case in the same week: that hunger and insecurity are reasons to deny a second term. Both sides are wrapping a ticket in patriotism. Voters will have to decide whether continuity is national interest or whether national interest is a change of occupant. Alawuje has named his preference. The ballot is still 2027’s argument.
