FG’s Agric Programmes Reducing Poverty in the North, Says Uba Sani

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has commended the federal government’s agricultural initiatives, stating that they have had a significant impact on reducing poverty in the North.

According to Sani, the current administration’s investments in agriculture are unprecedented, with a focus on supporting small-scale farmers, providing fertilizer subsidies, and offering financial assistance to states.

The governor made these remarks during a ceremony where presidential relief materials were distributed to beneficiaries.

He emphasized that these efforts have led to notable improvements in infrastructure, job creation, and poverty reduction. Sani also stressed the importance of local government autonomy in effectively addressing poverty and unemployment, noting that the 23 local government chairmen in Kaduna are key drivers of this initiative.

The agricultural sector, which contributes significantly to Nigeria’s economy, has been a major focus area for the government.

With agriculture accounting for 43% of the country’s GDP and employing over 60% of the workforce, Sani reaffirmed Kaduna’s commitment to remaining a major hub for agricultural activities.

The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, also praised the government’s economic reforms, stating that they have led to improved global ratings.

The President’s adviser, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, represented him at the event and announced the distribution of over 12,000 bags of rice across Kaduna’s wards, demonstrating the government’s commitment to citizens’ welfare.

The distribution of relief materials is part of a broader effort to support vulnerable communities and alleviate poverty. Beneficiaries have been urged to utilize the support wisely and continue to back government initiatives aimed at addressing national challenges. Overall, the government’s agricultural initiatives and economic reforms have been touted as key drivers of poverty reduction and economic growth in the region.
