The Osun State Police Command has rejected claims circulating online that some of its officers ran away from a drone. The command described the viral video as misleading and unrelated to any real security incident.

According to the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, the footage actually came from a Yoruba film production titled “Omine fun Omine Part 2.” The movie was shot in May and featured a police patrol vehicle in one of its scenes.

Ojelabi explained that a bystander who was not part of the film crew recorded the particular scene and wrongly presented it as officers fleeing from a drone. The command firmly rejected any suggestion that serving officers ran away from such a device.

He said the false narrative damages the reputation of the Nigeria Police Force and stressed that investigative reporting requires proper verification before clips are shared with national or international audiences.

Publishing out-of-context footage with inaccurate explanations is not a minor mistake when it is used to ridicule a security institution.

The command called on media platforms circulating the material to retract the false caption. It urged journalists to stop presenting staged film scenes as evidence of police misconduct and reaffirmed its commitment to professional policing while remaining open to accurate reporting.
