The Obi/Kwankwaso Movement has inaugurated its Cross River State executive members and unveiled its state secretariat in Calabar.

The group described the office as the “working home” for its political activities ahead of the 2027 general election and beyond.

The event took place on Saturday in Calabar and was attended by party leaders, stakeholders of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, coordinators from the 18 local government areas and supporters who turned out despite heavy rain. The movement is mobilising support for presidential candidate Peter Obi and his running mate Rabiu Kwankwaso.

National Convener, Jackie Wayas said the strong turnout showed commitment to the ticket. She brought greetings from Obi and Kwankwaso and urged members to return to their wards and polling units to mobilise voters for a new Nigeria.

State Coordinator Egwu Arong explained that the secretariat would improve organisation, coordination, documentation and grassroots mobilisation. He said the movement in Cross River would focus on clear coordination from the state to polling units, peaceful engagement of youths, women and the informal sector, and respect for law and order.

NDC State Chairman Goddy Akpama said the party was ready for the election and would field credible candidates. Deputy Governorship Candidate Stella Archibong also called on members to turn their enthusiasm into votes, stressing that action was more important than words.
