Lamido Predicts APC Implosion, Says Ganduje will Run to PDP

A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has predicted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is on the verge of a major split, with several key members, including National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, potentially defecting to the PDP.
Lamido made this bold statement while delivering the keynote address at the PDP congress held at the Aminu Kano Triangle in Jigawa State.
The former governor expressed confidence that the APC’s internal divisions and accommodating people with different mindsets would ultimately lead to its downfall.
“I’m confident that all those who left the PDP will return, including Ganduje, because very soon, the APC will burst and split into factions,” Lamido declared.
“I said it, and I repeat: within six months, all those who defected to the APC will come back, and the PDP will rise with full force to wrest power in 2027.”
Lamido’s remarks come amidst a wave of defections from opposition parties to the ruling APC, which has raised concerns about the state of the country’s democratic process. However, the PDP chieftain urged party members not to be discouraged, attributing the defections to fear of intimidation and harassment by the ruling party.
“The PDP has the confidence and strength to defeat its opponents in the 2027 elections.
“We will not be deterred by the defections, and we will continue to work towards reclaiming power and restoring good governance to Nigeria,” Lamido asserted.
Lamido’s criticism of the APC also touched on broader issues of governance and leadership in Nigeria, which he believes are being undermined by the ruling party.
“Nigeria is blessed, but the leaders are always the problem,” he said, warning the government to stop intimidating the opposition and respect the democratic process.
“The government should stop using intimidation and harassment to silence the opposition,” Lamido cautioned. “Such actions can only lead to further instability and undermine the country’s democratic foundations,” he said.
In a related development, the newly elected chairman of the PDP in Jigawa State, Honourable Ibrahim Babandi Gumel, called for unity among party members ahead of the 2027 elections. Gumel emphasized the need for party members to put aside their differences and work together to achieve victory in the upcoming polls.
