EduCare CEO, Alex Onyia, to Lead Class Action Suit Against JAMB

The Chief Executive Officer of EduCare, Alex Onyia, has announced plans to lead a class action suit against the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The lawsuit, which is expected to be filed on behalf of numerous students and stakeholders, demands full disclosure of the UTME marking sheet and students’ scoring details.

The class action suit seeks to compel JAMB to provide detailed information on the marking scheme and scoring system used in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Specifically, the plaintiffs are demanding access to the following:

* The full marking sheet used in the UTME

* Detailed scoring breakdown for each student

* Information on the criteria used to determine cut-off marks

The lawsuit alleges that JAMB has consistently failed to provide adequate transparency in its marking and scoring processes, leading to widespread concerns about the fairness and integrity of the UTME.

The plaintiffs argue that this lack of transparency has resulted in undue hardship and injustice for many students, who are often left with no recourse but to accept their scores without knowing the basis for them.

The outcome of this lawsuit could have significant implications for students, educators, and the education sector as a whole.

If successful, the class action suit could lead to greater transparency and accountability in the UTME process, potentially reducing the risk of errors or biases in the marking and scoring system.
