Lagos Deputy Governor Vows Crackdown on Lekki Car Spotters

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat has vowed to clamp down on individuals who stop luxury vehicles and engage in alleged criminal activities along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

He described the practice as criminal and said the government would not tolerate it.

Hamzat made the comments during an interview on Nigeria Info FM after the host, Jimi Disu, drew his attention to the activities of young men stopping luxury cars on the road. The interviewer urged the deputy governor to use his position to put an end to the problem.

Responding, Hamzat said the government would take many of the people involved off the streets. He acknowledged that some individuals operating along the Lekki-Epe axis had become a menace to society and road users.

The deputy governor disclosed that several suspects had already been arrested in connection with the activities. He noted that surveillance cameras installed along the road had helped identify those involved, with some of them currently facing charges in the Magistrate Court.

Hamzat confirmed that a number of the arrests took place recently, including over the weekend. He assured that the state government would continue to act against anyone engaging in such behaviour on the expressway.
