Aloy Ejimakor, special counsel to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has appealed to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), to secure the immediate release of Onyeaka Ozioma Elizabeth, who he said has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) for more than five years.

Ejimakor made the call over the reported continued detention of the woman, who was allegedly arrested by DSS operatives in Anambra State and has remained in custody without access to her family or legal representation.

The lawyer urged the Attorney-General to intervene in the matter and ensure that Elizabeth is either released or accorded due process under the law.

Her alleged prolonged detention has raised concerns over her access to basic legal rights, particularly her reported inability to communicate with her relatives or consult a lawyer.

Ejimakor, who represents Kanu, called for urgent action from the Federal Government to address the circumstances surrounding the woman’s continued detention.
