The African Democratic Congress has accused the Federal Government of freezing statutory allocations to local governments in Osun State as a political tool ahead of the state’s governorship election. The party described the action as “political terrorism.”

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said ordinary residents were now suffering the consequences. Funds meant for workers’ salaries, primary healthcare, schools, and other essential services remain tied up in the dispute.

The party alleged that the withholding of the allocations forms part of a wider campaign to weaken the Osun State Government before the election. It also accused federal authorities of tolerating the continued occupation of local government councils by unelected APC loyalists.

Abdullahi stressed that political opponents are not enemy combatants and that opposition-controlled states are not occupied territories. He warned that using public welfare as leverage in a political contest undermines democracy and harms innocent citizens.

The ADC called for the immediate restoration of all statutory allocations due to Osun’s local governments. It also demanded an end to what it described as federal intimidation and the restoration of constitutional order so that the people of Osun can freely choose their leaders.
