Troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have foiled multiple kidnap attempts in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, successfully rescuing the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, Dr. Aminu Yusuf, alongside 22 other abducted civilians.

The operational details released by Joint Task Force Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, confirmed that the military responded to an early-morning distress call at Tsohon-Tasha Street after armed terrorists invaded Dr. Yusuf’s residence.

The assailants killed the rector’s private security guard, Malam Isah Bello, and injured another resident before attempting to abduct the rector and his family. Arriving troops engaged the bandits with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon the rector and his family, who were rescued unharmed.

In a secondary operation conducted the same day in the Tungan Dorawa community of Barkeji Village, troops responded to another abduction attempt. Despite navigating difficult terrain, military personnel confronted the armed gang and rescued local businessman Alhaji Azaria alongside 21 other residents kidnapped from nearby homes.

During the operational clear-outs at Tsohon-Tasha Street, troops also arrested a 45-year-old suspected informant, Falalu Yusuf, who is believed to have collaborated with the terrorists by providing intelligence on target residents.

The suspect has been transferred to law enforcement agencies for further investigation, while military forces maintain aggressive patrol presence across the local government area to forestall further security threats.
