Veteran Nollywood actor, Hanks Anuku has spoken publicly about the pain behind his recent deliverance session, revealing that the death of his partner, who was also the mother of his two children, remains one of the most devastating experiences of his life.

Speaking in a video shared on social media days after footage of him undergoing prayers at a church in Abuja went viral, the 64 year old actor explained that he had planned to marry the woman before her untimely passing. He said she left him deeply heartbroken, describing how the loss affected nearly every part of his life and left him struggling to move forward.

Anuku recalled how close he and his late partner had been, noting that he had always been the kind of person who commits fully to one relationship at a time, whether in Nigeria or abroad.

He said he never imagined she would leave so soon, and that the grief affected him profoundly, making it difficult to accept that he would no longer share his life with her.

The actor admitted that the tragedy pushed him into a period of isolation, during which he withdrew from friends, family and the public eye to grieve privately. He explained that he had wanted to become someone entirely different from who he used to be, until he said he was reached by the Holy Spirit and guided toward deliverance, healing and divine comfort.

His remarks come after weeks of public concern over his wellbeing, following viral videos that showed him appearing unkempt in various locations, which sparked speculation about his mental and physical health. Anuku had previously dismissed the rumours and urged Nigerians to focus on more pressing national issues rather than his personal struggles.

During the church testimony, which took place at a service in Abuja’s Utako district, the actor said the deliverance experience left him feeling completely transformed, describing himself as light as a feather and full of renewed joy after the prayers.

He was accompanied to the church by his son and daughter, and thanked those who had reached out to support him through what he described as one of the most difficult periods of his life.
