Security Forces Neutralize Four Bandits, Rescue Abducted Victims in Kwara State
Joint security forces and local vigilantes have eliminated four bandits and successfully rescued two kidnapped victims in Aboki community, located within Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The operation was launched after five armed assailants invaded the community on Tuesday night and abducted residents, including a local notable, Alhaji Tukur.
Alerted by community reports, military troops and vigilantes mobilized to intercept the criminal group, killing four bandits during the encounter while one suspect escaped with gunshot wounds.
Both Alhaji Tukur and another abducted individual were rescued unharmed. The swift intervention reflects enhanced operational response times as security agencies step up anti-kidnapping efforts across the state.
The successful operation follows approval for the deployment of a new Nigerian Army battalion to Omu-Aran in Kwara South to reinforce security and counter regional banditry and terrorism.
