Senator Ali Ndume has strongly denied claims that he acted as an intermediary between Boko Haram kidnappers and the government or private individuals.

The Borno South lawmaker described the allegations as completely false during an interview on ARISE News.

Ndume explained that he only got involved after being contacted by Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama about a ransom demand for abducted residents of Ngoshe community. He immediately alerted security agencies, including the NSA, DSS, and the military, and shared Kaigama’s contact with them.

The senator said he rejected any suggestion to contribute money for ransom, stressing that he does not support negotiating with or paying terrorists. He maintained that he had no knowledge of whether any payment was eventually made.

Ndume welcomed a full investigation into the matter and said he had preserved all communications. He urged security agencies to summon all parties involved to get to the truth and treat the issue as a national security concern.

The controversy stems from the abduction of over 400 women and children from Ngoshe. Ndume’s denial comes amid ongoing efforts to secure the release of the captives and improve security in Borno State. Many are calling for a thorough probe to clear the air.
