President Tinubu Commissions Major Projects in Anambra, First Presidential Visit for Public Works Since 2012
For the first time in over a decade, Anambra State played host to a sitting Nigerian president for the commissioning of public infrastructure. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s historic visit marked the inauguration of multiple landmark projects under Governor Charles Soludo’s administration, reaffirming federal interest in the Southeast’s infrastructural development.
Speaking at the event, Governor Soludo highlighted the significance of the occasion, stating, “The last time a president visited for a commissioning was in 2012 for a brewery, but today, the president is here to commission roads spanning several kilometers, flyovers, a government house, and more.”
The reference harks back to 2012 when then-President Goodluck Jonathan visited Anambra to commission a brewery and other private investments.
Since then, no president has made a similar trip to commission public infrastructure in the state until now.
During his visit, President Tinubu commissioned several key projects, including the newly constructed Anambra Government House, the Emeka Anyaoku Institute of International Studies and Diplomacy at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, the Ekwulobia flyover, and the Solution Fun City recreational complex.
Residents and traditional leaders from across the state gathered to witness the ceremonies, with many lauding the current administration for revamping Anambra’s development landscape.
The visit also included strategic meetings on regional security, economic collaboration, and youth empowerment.
Governor Soludo described the president’s presence as “a vote of confidence” in his administration’s achievements and a boost to the morale of Ndi Anambra.
“This visit is not only historic it is symbolic,” Soludo said. “It tells our people that Anambra is not on the margins of national development. We are at the heart of it.”
The presidential visit is expected to spark renewed federal-state collaboration and attract both public and private sector investments to the region.
