Emergency Responders Injured Battling Blazes Sparked by Iranian Missile Strikes in Kuwait
Several firefighters and a civilian worker have been injured in Kuwait while responding to massive blazes triggered by hostile Iranian missile and drone strikes.
The Kuwait Fire Force confirmed the casualties on Saturday, July 18, 2026, stating that emergency crews were deployed to combat fires at two separate locations hit during the morning raids.
The state-run news agency, KUNA, reported that five firefighting teams, backed by specialized oil sector emergency units, rushed to the primary site, while three additional teams were dispatched to contain the second outbreak. The wounded personnel were evacuated from the danger zone and transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
Earlier on Saturday, Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy confirmed that one of the targeted facilities was a vital infrastructure hub containing a power generation and water desalination plant.
The strikes mark a dangerous escalation in Middle Eastern hostilities, following recent U.S. military strikes on targets inside Iran.
Tehran has since launched retaliatory attacks against regional nations hosting U.S. military assets, including Kuwait, Jordan, and Bahrain. The direct military exchange between Washington and Tehran has severely fractured regional stability, overriding a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding signed in June that had briefly aimed for a lasting peace agreement.
