COAS Welfare Flight Scheme Airlift 344 Personnel to Boost Morale in North-East Theatre
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) has continued to strengthen personnel welfare and operational efficiency with the successful execution of another welfare flight, facilitating the rotation and movement of 344 military personnel into and out of the North-East theatre of operations.
The dedicated welfare flight was conducted utilizing a chartered ValueJet aircraft as part of the Nigerian Army’s sustained logistical initiative designed to ease the movement of troops serving under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK).
According to military sources, the flight successfully transported 172 personnel into the counter-insurgency theatre, while simultaneously airlifting another 172 personnel out for leave and rotation purposes.
The smooth execution of the flight was completed without any operational or logistical challenges. With this latest rotation, the cumulative number of military personnel who have benefited from the COAS Welfare Flight Initiative since its inception has safely climbed to tens of thousands of personnel.
The welfare flight programme, introduced under the current army leadership, aims to eliminate the risks and logistical burdens of long-distance road travel for troops proceeding on leave, returning to duty, or rotating out of frontline assignments. Military authorities have consistently praised the initiative as a critical welfare intervention that significantly boosts troop morale and enhances the overall operational readiness of forces fighting terrorism and protecting communities across the North-East region.
