Kai Cenat Confirms Failed Bid to Secure Carter Efe a US Visa for Streamer University

Kai Cenat, the American Twitch star, has confirmed that he personally tried to help Nigerian content creator, Carter Efe secure a United States visa so he could attend Streamer University, the creator training programme he runs in the US, but the effort ultimately fell through.

Speaking during a livestream as the 2026 edition of the programme kicked off, Kai Cenat told his audience that he had worked with the Nigerian skit maker on the visa process but that it simply did not come together in time.

Carter Efe, whose real name is Israel Paul Enesi, was announced in early July as the first African creator selected for Streamer University, a four day gathering that brings together a small group of digital creators from around the world for training, networking and joint content production. The news was celebrated widely in Nigeria as a landmark moment for the country’s skit making and streaming community, but the excitement soon gave way to anxiety as Carter Efe’s visa application dragged on without resolution.

In his own livestream, Carter Efe confirmed that Kai Cenat had gone out of his way to support the application, even drafting a formal invitation letter for him to present at the embassy. He explained that Kai Cenat sent him an exclusive letter to show officials, but that the outcome still did not go his way, expressing his frustration at the process back home.

His comments came after days of public appeals, including a widely circulated video in which he asked Nigerians to help him reach Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, in the hope that this might speed up his visa.

That appeal drew mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians sympathetic to his situation and others pointing out that visa decisions rest with consular officers at the embassy rather than with any political figure.

Carter Efe ultimately missed the opening day of Streamer University as his documentation remained unresolved, prompting speculation that his visa had been denied outright. He later moved to clarify the situation, stating that his application had not been rejected but was still pending at the US Embassy, and he urged his fans and well-wishers not to believe rumours suggesting otherwise.

He also thanked Kai Cenat for doing everything within his power to help make the trip possible, even though the timing did not work out before the programme began.

The episode drew attention from other prominent figures in Nigerian entertainment, including Afrobeats star Davido, who publicly encouraged Carter Efe to stay hopeful and noted that securing a US visa has become considerably harder in the current climate. For Carter Efe, regarded as one of Africa’s most prominent streamers, the selection into Kai Cenat’s programme remains a significant milestone in his career regardless of the visa delay, and many of his supporters believe his growing profile will continue to open bigger opportunities in the future.
