The administration of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has expressed its gratitude to the Department of State Services (DSS) following the successful rescue of Professor Samuel Okunsebor, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture.
The academic was seized by gunmen late Wednesday night in Mile Uku, an area bordering Lafia and Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Areas.
Following a swift operation, DSS operatives tracked down and freed the professor on Friday afternoon. He was reunited with his family during a brief handover witnessed by the institution’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kitso Ngbargu, before being transferred to the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital for a routine medical checkup.
A senior university official praised the security agency for its tireless, round-the-clock efforts to guarantee the Dean’s safe return. The institution further confirmed that two suspects linked to the kidnapping have been taken into DSS custody, voicing confidence that the agency will ensure they face prompt legal prosecution.
