The Federal Government has filed a 10-count charge at the Federal High Court in Abuja against three suspects linked to the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The defendants, who were arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS), are Abdulrazak Umar (also known as Abu Khalifa or Abu Khalid), Yunusa Musa (also known as Yunusa bin Musa), and Shamsu Adamu Sani (also known as Abu Itisar). All three suspects are from the Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State.

They are facing counts bordering on terrorism, kidnapping, concealment, incitement, and illegal mining. The prosecution alleges that between January and May 2026, they conspired with three others—Muhammad Sani, Jibril Mohammed, and Ibrahim Khabab—to orchestrate the school abductions in Oyo State.

The charge sheet states that around June 2, 2026, the trio professed membership in Darul Salam, an affiliate of the proscribed terrorist group Jama’atu Ansarul Muslimina Fi Biladis Sudan, which is popularly known as Ansaru. This violates Section 25(1) of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

The first suspect, Abdulrazak Umar, faces additional accusations of providing training and instructions to terrorists. He is also accused of inciting members to commit terrorist acts through a WhatsApp group titled “The Oneness of Allah is the Foundation of Peace,” violating both the Terrorism Act and Section 18 of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act.
