Airtel Africa Returns to Profitability with $661Million
Airtel Africa, a leading telecommunications company with operations in 14 countries across the continent, has announced a remarkable return to profitability, with a 1,147% surge in pre-tax profit to $661 million in 2025.
According to the company’s financial results, released yesterday, Airtel Africa’s pre-tax profit increased from $53 million in the previous year to $661 million, driven by a 23% growth in revenue to $3.4 billion. The company’s customer base also expanded by 15% to 120 million, with significant growth in key markets such as Nigeria, Kenya, and Tanzania.
The company’s data revenue increased by 30% to $1.2 billion, accounting for 35% of total revenue, while mobile money transactions grew by 40% to $12 billion.
Airtel Money, the company’s mobile money platform, now serves over 20 million customers.

“The company’s strong performance is a testament to the growth potential of the African telecommunications market, and we expect Airtel Africa to continue to play a leading role in shaping the industry’s future,” he said.
Airtel Africa’s return to profitability is a significant milestone for the company, which has faced intense competition in the African telecommunications market in recent years. The company’s shares rose by 10% on the Nigerian Stock Exchange yesterday, following the announcement of its financial results. Airtel Africa is listed on the London Stock Exchange and the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
